BREAKING NEWS: David Guetta Retiring?
If it wasn’t for the fact that today’s date is being blasted everywhere, I would’ve checked the calendar to make sure it wasn’t April 1st. News is just breaking that David Guetta has retired as a DJ.
If sources are correct, and this is not just a rumor or some grand joke from a Guetta hater out there, he is doing it to focus more on running his label JackBack Resorts and discovering new talent.
“Everything has become so huge with electronic music that I think it’s time for me to do smaller projects,” he is quoted as saying, allegedly.
If this is not a joke, this would be the second Superstar DJ this week to announce his departure from the scene. Legendary Danny Tenaglia shared he would be “resigning” for an unspecified amount of time early this week.
Personally, I feel both these cats are more like taking a break, stepping back, perhaps to take a breather as it seems is the case with Guetta and find new meaning as it seems is the case with Tenaglia, but I’m sure they will both return, and come back better than ever.
I prefer having Guetta around. I think he brings a great vibe to the dance floors and love him or hate him, he has opened a lot of doors for House or EDM, or whatever you call it. Fact is, he has a sincere love for House music and DJing, plus, he’s still young; he’s only 44. Whatever the case, we wish him the best.
We’ll keep you posted as this develops.
So, let’s have it, what are your thoughts? Are you happy or sad to see Guetta retire? Share in comments or via Twitter.
