WEEKENDMIX 5.10.13: MOTHER OF ALL WEEKENDS

The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire, we don’t need no water let the mother f–oh shit, Mother’s Day is this weekend! I don’t know about you, but this weekend partying is on hold. It’s not like my mom is into the club scene much these days and my girl is too tired from raising our two children. I’m right there with her, but if you know children you know two is equal to 200.

This weekend I will be busy tending to my two queens as well as calling and sending love to other special moms in my life. I will also be scaling down the boom boom boom of House and the boom bap of Hip Hop and playing music that is much smoother, sexier, and with plenty of romantic undertones. That’s a tall order indeed, but in my experience two genres in particular always fit the bill, and wouldn’t you know it I have two mixes that deliver fantastically.

Up first is a soulful and sexy Neo Soul mix by UK DJ Scientific Monkey (we’ll be revisiting this cat right here) and lastly a mix for all the Latin mami’s and mothers out there by DJ Sole Heaven, who does an awesome job in this hour + mix of classic romantic Salsa tunes. Yep, Neo Soul and Salsa. One way or the other, there are going to be some relaxed mommy’s out there.

If you are fortunate enough to have beautiful mothers in your life, I suggest you go do what you must to make it a special weekend for them. The only thing worse than the wrath of a woman scorned is if that woman is a mother.

Happy Mother’s Day to my dear mom, te quiero mami, and to Raquel the mother of my children, my partner, and my true love, and all the mothers out there! Fellas get to it.
