DJ OF THE WEEK 8.23.10: KRAFTY KUTS
DJ Krafty Kuts, real name Martin Reeves, is a veteran of the game, and his love for music, in particular Hip Hop, goes back to when the old school was still the new school. Hailing from Britain, this DJ, Producer, remixer, record label owner, entrepenuer, and more truly knows how to rock a party. It’s almost as if it’s in his gene’s, actually, it might be. Legend says, he reached the finals of a DJ competition without ever having DJ’d prior to entering…at age 12!
Ever since that first competition, Krafty has been hard at work making a name for himself. Over the years, he has worked with countless heavyweights such as Afrika Bambaata, Fatboy Slim, Eric B & Rakim, Utah Saints, and lots more. He’s also produced and remixed more than a few record crates of his own hits along the way. From the Funky Elements EP that put him on the map to his hit “Wild in the Aisles,” his DJ mix “Slam the Breaks On,” “Latin Bounce,” “Gimme the Funk,” and more, you can say, Krafty stays working. He has been recognized for his work too. Best International DJ at the Australian Dance Music Awards, Best Breaks DJ at the 2006 M8 Ibiza awards 2006, Best Album for “Freakshow” at Breakspoll 2007, the list goes on and on, but I won’t.
I will add, that Krafty can also get down with the geeks, and has released an iPhone app that you simply must check out, especially if you’re a DJ. It comes preloaded with 100 samples, “MC Shouts, sirens, bass drops and many more,” serving as a mini-library for DJ’s to add into their sets! Check it out for yourself here!
Ok, we need to get to the good stuff right away, you’ve waited long enough. Enjoy!
