Glenn Underground Launches New Label & New Beginnings Is Stellar First Release
Written By Tania Fuentez
No introduction necessary as Strictly Jaz Unit’s Glenn Underground launches new label SJU Extensions with a stellar release by the tour de force pairing of Phil Hooton and Queen AaMinah. Stunning on lead vocals, AaMinah energizes New Beginnings, which stays true to its roots in jazz and House with a sophisticated air of spoken word, funky guitar riffs, crystalline keys, drums and just enough bass to blow your mind. Already making waves on DJ playlists, be on the lookout for this sizzling track available Oct. 1.
Also sharing an October release date, Noble Square Recording’s Freight Train Series, Volume 1, comes on fast and strong. Label head (and, stealth contributor) Ricardo Miranda based this vinyl EP project on the rolling canvas artwork on various freight trains on display throughout Chicago. Expect all the grit you’ll need to get down. Life’s Track (Italian prodigies Hervè and Marco D’Aquino) embraces techno’s dark side with Rhythm Composer, while Chicago’s DEFEND:R hits hard with a raw Juno 106 composition titled, Have. Miranda goes the distance, providing three drum beat DJ tool s on the B -side, reminiscent of those early , edgy House releases.
