WEEKEND MIX 9.16.11: CARMAGEDDON

Electronic Dance music is underground music, but where do you go when you want to dig deeper? As far as I’m concerned, there are few genres to explore as appealing as Drum n’ Bass.

DNB is not the kind of music you hear on the radio, at least not here in the US (unless it’s been co-opted as background music in a commercial), and its fans are perfectly fine with that, with DJs like Gridlok, why wouldn’t they be.

Gridlok, whose government name is Ryan Powell, has been a DJ, producer, and all around DNB advocate for over 10 years. He has an impressive discography consisting of his own productions, remixes, compilations, and more, and his mixes are sick!

Melodic, rhythmic, and yes, high energy, Drum n’ Bass gets a bad wrap from the mainstream, but this only serves to make it a stronger culture within a culture. So, if you’re not faint of heart, don’t mind going into deeper, darker corners of the underground, go experience some DNB.
